Everett Summers, former USC Student-Athlete

During the early 1980s, I was a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina. It was then that I had the amazing privilege of meeting Sheila Foster and witnessing firsthand her remarkable career. Little did I know that some forty-plus years later, we would become very close friends.

I have always told her—without hesitation—that she was the best I’ve ever seen. Through all her post-college challenges, I reminded her often: God’s work with you is not yet complete. And indeed, He continues to shine His light on her.

Sheila Foster was not only a phenomenal athlete in her day but also remains an outstanding individual in life. The recent honor placing her at the top of USC Women’s Basketball’s “Mount Rushmore” is more than deserved—it’s destiny fulfilled.

Just look at what her legendary journey helped ignite: Players such as A'ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston have carried on the legacy of greatness, leading to three national championships. It all traces back to her example—her hard work, perseverance, and faith.

They got it right. Sheila, you truly are "The GOAT." Thank you for blazing the trail—and for keeping it up. 🐔🏀❤️
