Being from Spartanburg, I always followed how Eric performed each week. The ‘84 Season was special. We attended all home games back then. The Clemson Game was broadcast on the big screen at Carolina Coliseum. A magical season for sure.
Great writeup as always, enjoyed Eric Poole's take on that time.
I'm lucky to know Jim Walsh and Bryant Gilliard from that team -- Walsh was long a head football coach down here at Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Ga., and Bryant is from Hinesville and played at Bradwell under Clifford Johnson.
I think for some of us older fans the 1984 season will always be No.1. I certainly can't remember anything more electric in 50 plus years of rooting for the Gamecocks.
Thanks for reading, Jeff, and I agree, there has been nothing more exciting than the '84 season in my 43+ years of keeping up with the Gamecocks. It was truly electric!
Another good article. Love all the details. So glad he still loves the Gamecocks.
Wow I love these articles. Always - great reading!

As always, appreciate you reading!
