My interview with Kate Fowler of the South Carolina History Newsletter Podcast
A fun and wide-ranging conversation on the rich history of Gamecock sports
Many thanks to my friend Kate Fowler, author of the excellent South Carolina History Newsletter for her kind invitation to be the very first guest on her new podcast. It was a real honor and a fun conversation!
Kate and I delve into my book, A Gamecock Odyssey, and spin off into several sidebars, including the near armed riot of 1902 between Clemson cadets and a ragtag band of Carolina students, the fabled “Chicken Curse,” the dubious claim on “USC” by that institution out west, the star power of Joe Morrison, and even South Carolina’s misunderstood role in the American Revolution, among many other topics.
If you’re like me - a fan of all things South Carolina history (and I know you are) - subscribe now to Kate’s newsletter. Each week, she covers all manner of stories and topics from the rich history of the Palmetto State. Kate has an infectious passion for history, a gift for storytelling, and she is building a fantastic community over at SCHN!
